Have you ever taken part in a gratitude sharing at a Thanksgiving meal? So lovely to go around the table and hear what everyone is grateful for. This practice never gets old! So this year, try a new twist:
* Begin when the pie or desert is served, so you can take your time with this (and eat the meal when it’s hot)!
* Ask the older folks to name one thing they’re grateful that they did in younger years – one opportunity they seized or one fork in the road wisely-chosen. You may learn something new about grandma or grandpa, aunts or uncles!
* Ask the tween and teens about the very best thing happening in their life right now.
* Ask the young ones to name one family-member they’re grateful for and explain why. And one outside-the-family person they’re grateful for and why. For the little tykes you may have to allow more than one if they have difficulty choosing.
* Name something you’re grateful for in the natural world. This can be powerful as you speak your word for the trees, a particular type of animal, the ocean, or the wind. What do you love about our planet? Can you share it out loud around the dinner table?
* And a super fun closing can be to go around one more time and speak a future gratitude – what is something you can imagine receiving and being grateful for?? I know there is so much more goodness coming your way!
I am very, very grateful for you! Thank you for being a part of my special community. I’d love to hear a bit about your gratitude traditions.
many blessings to you and yours this Thanksgiving,
Donna
