Author’s Note
As I lay these words before you, it is the last full moon of the summer, 2023. The rare Blue Supermoon smiles upon the fruition of my heartfelt endeavor. Turtle Wisdom has been with me for a long time, often leading the way with unexpected twists and turns. She has provided delightful opportunities to find friends I might otherwise not meet. Sitting in a hot tub in Sedona, Arizona, I am asked to share who I am and when I mention my first book a woman starts weeping, “That book changed my life,” she said. And another who called to thank me for the acceptance and encouragement she found within my pages became a student taking every workshop I offered, and eventually grew to be a lifelong friend. Gee, I even visited a bank branch where I was unknown to the tellers, hoping to cash a check. After I found myself without the necessary ID, I asked the branch manager if there was any other way. I knew they had my signature on file. He agreed but said, “Do you have something with your name and picture on it?” “Yes, I do,” and I dashed to the car to grab one of my books. When I showed it to him, he turned it over and over, staring at it intently. “This is you?” “Yes.” “Well, right now I’m reading this book! It lives on my night table. Of course, we can cash your check.” I hold dear a stunning rainbow of stories, warm glows of every hue … I love those stories. I feel a special connection with everyone them.
This eighteen-year anniversary rewrite has taken much longer than anticipated – a full nine months of creativity, attention, and care. From the little glimmers of ideas surfacing in my mind’s eye to the word-by-word detailed scrutiny, tenderly sculpting this baby into her rightful birth. i offer her to you with love and the best intention.
